Delta state government gives N5million to first class graduates

I think this is something other state governments should do (if they are not already doing it). I am highly impressed by this gesture from the Delta state government. Delta state Government under the leadership of Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan has today, as her custom, presented a scholarship of Five Million Naira (N5,000,000) to each of her first Class Graduates to further their educational career in any University of their choice. Delta state Government also gave Fifty Thousand naira (N50,000) each to her Students in the Nigeria Law School (2011 and 2012 Batches) to make-up their scholarship of One Hundred Thousand (N100,000) as promised by the State Government

Can you name your baby after a social networking site such as Facebook and Twitter?

I thought choosing a name for our newborn should be something carefully thought out as names can have big impacts in people's lives but these days, it seems people just choose a name for their babies without  considering the impact it might have on the baby or how socially acceptable such names are. I also thought 'meanings' should be a major factor in choosing a name for a baby.

Naming babies after social networking sites seem to becoming a trend these days. In the news today, a Twitter loving parents named their beautiful baby daughter the 'Hashtag'. The Jamesons family made the announcement via Facebook with a picture of the adorable baby. 

Last year, an Egyptian family with crazy love for Facebook named their baby 'Like'. I also read of  another  man from Egypt, Al-ahram Ibrahim who was very happy with the social networking site Facebook that he named his daughter 'Facebook'. Lol...

Maybe the next couple will call their baby 'Instagram' lol...but seriously what happened if the there's no more Facebook or Twitter? I'm curious to know how these parents would explain the meanings of these names to their children when they are a bit older but would you consider naming your baby after a social networking site?

I came across this video on Facebook and thought I should share in case you haven't seen it. 

What in God's name would make a woman do this to a child? That's the question that came to my mind while I was watching this video. Even if you're not the child's mother, you have no right whatsoever to mete such punishment on any child. It's appalling! What do they know? I am a lover of children. I love kids to  bits. I felt so disturbed watching this video but I want to share it on this blog so that you know how much wickedness goes on in and around the world that we inhabit. I hope to God that this woman is caught and her womb removed. The person filming it too deserve nothing less! They are both as guilty.

Female NYSC arrested with cocaine in Abuja

                              

A female NYSC member is now in the custody of the NDLEA over a drug parcel sent by her London-based Facebook friend.

The lady had, at the weekend, received a telephone call from her London friend about the arrival of a parcel with instructions on whom to hand it to once she collected it. The parcel had arrived Lagos enroute Abuja, at the weekend, but officials of the courier firm in collaboration with NDLEA operatives decided to open the parcel before the beneficiary was allowed to take it away.

During checking, the vigilant operatives discovered a pack of cocaine. The parcel, a small container, has within it three packs of cocaine concealed inside a wall clock. The lady under interrogation confessed that she met the man on Facebook and was under instruction to hand over the parcel to another friend also based in Abuja.

She also confessed that this was not the first time she would be collecting parcels from her London-based friend. Even the shoe she was wearing at the point of her arrest was said to be a 'gift' from the same friend.

Goge Africa Presenter, Nneka Moses finally a mother after 13years

Congratulations to Nneka and her husband Isaac on the birth of their bouncing baby boy. The couple who also presents the TV show Goge Africa seem the happiest at the moment after waiting 13years for this miracle to happen. 

Isaac wrote on his facebook page, "All glory and honour to God. My wife has delivered a beautiful baby boy and just looking at him, I realise he is worth the long wait. So welcome baby Kamara Isaac Moses".
