It's never too late to start: Grandmother returns to school at 78

primary school (© Gallo Images/Nation Media/Jacob Owiti)primary school (© Gallo Images/Nation Media/Jacob Owiti)

Mariana Ong’ango Ololo pictured above is a 78years old pupil at Obambo Primary School. As you would have rightly guessed, Mariana is the oldest pupil in the school. The grandmother from Siaya county was reported to have showed up at the school unannounced on 14 May, in a school uniform with a shaved head and accompanied by her 56-year-old son George. Even with her poor health, Mariana the mother of eight children reportedly started school because of an interest in politics and was inspired to do so by the election of Uhuru Kenyatta. She told the Daily Nation, "“Uhuru Kenyatta is not an old man, but took over as fourth President because he has got an education. That is a clear indicator that a person cannot rank highly in society without an education.”

Shows that grandma still got ambitions even at 78...  Click below to see more photos

If only we can be...
 A little bit more loving
A little bit more caring
A little bit more accommodating
A little bit more helpful
A little bit more thoughtful
A little bit more respectful
A little bit more tolerable
A little bit more hospitable
A little bit more bearable
A little bit more endurable
 A little bit more kind
A little bit more patient
A little bit more considerate
Then and only then would our world be
A much better place to live.

Guess where Charly Boy gets his ideas from???

You wanna know? From his casket of course! Judging from the post and caption above, Charly Boy has a casket which according to him "all his bright ideas comes from and is very comfy". Wait a minute...does that mean he sleeps in that casket? I thought caskets were meant for burying dead people in. Well I'm not so surprise. Who else could be that crazy? It's Charly Boy we talking about.

There's always light at the end of the tunnel

This song ministered to me this morning and I thought about things generally and just ended up thanking God for who He is and smiling through it all. I have decided to share it with you too because I am hoping it ministers to you too just like it did to me. The world is becoming like a lion's den where the vulnerable ones are falling prey and things just seem to be getting tougher.

As an individual, you might be going through the toughest of times in your life. Maybe things aren't just going as you have planned. Maybe the only person you trust has betrayed you or let you down in one way or the other. It could be that you are yet to get a job after years of graduating from the university. You may be waiting on the Lord for a good home or for the blessing of the womb. It could be financial, spiritual, material, social or economic need. You might have prayed time and time again and yet nothing has changed. Please don't give up. Keep trusting God and keep praying and praising. For in this lies your victory. If you find it hard to pray, sing songs of praises. God is waiting for the right time to come into that situation of yours. His timings are different from yours but trust me, His timings are the best. Just hang in there. God is on your case. He's not done with you yet.  Don't ever lose your faith in Him. There's always light at the end of the tunnel. That situation will change for the better at God's own right time. For you, the sun will shine again. Watch the video above. Pay attention to every word.  The song is titled 'I will sing'. It is by one of my all time favourite gospel artist, Don Moen. It is a faith song and I pray it speaks to you.

You are blessed beyond measures this Easter. God loves you and so do I.

Video: Woman harassed in Abuja for wearing short dress

Things that happened in Naija these days ehn... The lady in the video below was almost stripped naked for wearing a short dress. Now in as much as I don't support indecent dressing, I don't think she deserve the treatment she got from those illiterate area boys who were just trying to feed their eyes. At least the lady wore a tight with the dress so it wasn't that bad and it should be nobody's business how other people choose to dress. People need to learn to mind their business and face their problems rather than vent their anger and frustration on other people. Poor woman, I feel for her and thank God someone was able to come to her aid just when it was going to get worse.

Video: Civil Defence Commandant struggles to answer a simple question about his organisation's website

Imagine the Lagos State Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC) Obafaiye Shem struggling to answer a simple questions such as telling his organisation's website? In an interview on Channels TV breakfast programme, Sunrise Daily,  Mr Obafaiye Shem was asked to mention the NSCDC's web address but he struggled with it. He even said that he has never visited the website before. An organisation he works for. What a shame! This is what happens when people who are still supposed to be training and learning are placed in top positions above those who deserves to be there. watch and see for yourself.

To that woman... Happy mother's day!

Random Google image
To that woman who strive to provide for her child
To that woman who stay awake to watch her child fall asleep
To that woman who would rather not eat than see her child hungry
To that woman who would run helter-skelter when her child falls ill
to see the child get well again
To that woman who is truthful to her child
To that woman who raised up her child in the right way
To that woman who would put her child first
To that woman who will never give up on her child
To that woman who would give up everything for her child
To that woman who will never be mean to the other child from the other woman
To that woman who truly deserve to be called a mother
Happy mother's day!

Born again man honours Jesus with massive Jesus' tattoo to his back. What's your view?

Random Google images
Terry O'Neill  has a massive tattoo of Jesus on his back to show his faith as a born again Christian. It cost him £900 (roughly N225,000) to have it done. Terry also refused pain relief gel in honour of Jesus because he though it would be cheating not to go through the pain as Jesus himself went through much more pain.

I am not going to judge this man for what he's done. Obviously it means much to him but is tattoo 'Christianly'? What's your view?

Juliet Ibrahim & Kim Kadashian - who is hotter?

Ghollywood actress Juliet Ibrahim                                    American star Kim Kadashian
                                                                (Both random Google images)

Juliet Ibrahim in her post on Instagram claim she is 100% hotter than Kim Kadashian. Read the post below and tell me what you think

"The fact is and will always remain I, Juliet Ibrahim is 100 times hotter, prettier than Kim k! I have every right to say so Cus I am an African woman without any surgeries and natural beauty is what I brag of. If this is offending u pls kindly walk without your faulty specs and bang your head into a wall".

I agree with her 100%. Do you?

Video: Wicked nanny tortures an innocent 4months old baby

This is just too much for a 4months old baby. I was very shaken by this video. The woman in this video, an indonesia nanny is torturing the baby for whatever reason but what does a 4months old baby know? She could easily fracture the baby's bone by tossing him around like that. Jeez!!! Such an evil. The parents of that baby must be very devastated they weren't there to save him. This is why I'd rather stay home and look after my kids until they are a bit older. With things such as this, you can never trust anyone to do a better job than you as a parent. I pray the baby is OK and hope the woman gets the punishment she deserves. Watch the video below but please be warned, it is very disturbing

Valentine's day: Love is not sex

Random Google image
Hmm... February 14 is here and that only means one thing – Valentine. Valentine’s Day as claimed and as I have always known is a day to celebrate and show love. Well, I have done a little bit of research about Valentine and found there are different stories. One of such stories suggested that Valentine's Day was created as an attempt to supersede the pagan holiday of Lupercalia although this has been contested.  Another story states that the man Valentine himself was a Roman Priest under the emperor called Claudias who persecuted the church at that particular time. The story further states that Valentine (the man) supported marriage and always encouraged soldiers to marry within the Christian church but he was caught in the year 269 AD and sentenced to a three part execution of a beating, stoning, and finally decapitation. This was because of his stand for Christian marriage which the law didn't permit at the time. There are other stories about Valentine. You can Google it if interested.

However, I’ll like to pick on the former story above and if it’s anything to go by, then Valentine means much more than buying cards and roses and having sex under the disguise of showing love. As the story states, Valentine (the man) was a Christian who fought and encouraged Christian marriage within the church and had to die as a result.

Sickle cell anaemia: What you should know

Random Google image
Sickle cell anaemia (commonly reffered to as SS) is an inherited complex blood disorder where red blood cells develop abnormally. The Red blood cells carry oxygen from the lungs to the rest of the body. The round shape and flexibility of the cells allows them to move easily around the body. But in people with sickle cell anaemia, the shape and texture of the blood cells become hard and sticky and are shaped like bananas or sickles (hence the name “sickle cell”) thereby causing the cells to die prematurely and leading to a shortage of red blood cells (low haemoglobin). This causes symptoms of anaemia, such as tiredness and shortness of breath.

Symptoms
Includes pains (often called the sickle cell crisis) which affect different parts of the body, jaundice, priapism (persistent and painful erection) if the blood become trapped in the penis, serious complications amongst many others.  Sickle cell anaemia can cause a series of painful crisis if not treated. The symptoms of pain can range from moderate to severe, and episodes can last from several hours to several weeks. Some children may only experience one or two episodes of pain a year while others can experience as many as 12 to 14 episodes. These painful crises is triggered when the odd shaped cell stick in and block red blood vessels that supply the body’s tissues thereby preventing oxygen from getting through. It also carries a risk of a stroke and infections. The three most common infections among children are pneumonia (an infection of the lungs), osteomyelitis (an infection that develops inside a bone), and meningitis (an infection of the lining of the brain).  It can also cause a series of joint problems such as hips and shoulder pains. Pregnant women might often experience an increase in painful crisis although this might not always be the case.

Should you tell your partner that you have Sickle Cell (A 'Sickler' or SS) ? Read Tara’s story

Random |Google image

Tara was 27 years old when she got married to Akeem in May 2011. Tara met Akeem through a friend while she was still in college. They both courted for slightly over a year before saying “I do”. And just in September, four months into their marriage, Tara fell ill and could not make the holiday that her husband had booked for the two of them. She was admitted into the hospital for few days and it was during this time that Akeem her husband found out about her health condition. Akeem confronted Tara when they got back home from the hospital and Tara admitted straightaway. Tara said in an interview with Views247, "My husband was very mad at me.  I tried pleading with him and explaining things but he wouldn’t listen. He was very furious”.

From that time, Akeem refused to do anything together with his wife Tara. He would not even sit close nor speak to her.  All Tara’s pleas and efforts to talk things over with Akeem fell on deaf ears.  There was a time Akeem even left the house for about a week without telling Tara where he was going and all Tara’s efforts to reach him proved abortive. When Akeem eventually returned home, he told Tara that he was leaving never return back to her. Tara thought it was all a joke but when Akeem started packing up his things and moving them to a waiting car outside the house, she realised that he meant business. Tara tried everything to stop Akeem going. She even tried speaking to Akeem’s relatives both home and abroad to see if they could help make her marriage work but to her surprise, they too like Akeem changed their attitudes towards her and even stopped her visiting them. “None of them really understood what sickle cell anaemia is. They treated me like I had leprosy, like I was a walking corpse”, Tara said tearfully.

Do you fancy a marriage proposal such as this?

Imagine the highway being disrupted by well over 300 bikers just for you. Well it happened in California when a man decided the best way and place to propose to his girlfriend was on the highway with lots of bikers doing their thing while family members watched from the overpass. I think it's interesting. The biker boyfriend pop the question in a very unique but unusual way and the lady said yes. Watch the video below and share your views.

So what do you think? As a guy, do you see yourself proposing to your girlfriend in a similar way? and as a lady, do you like this method of popping the question?

Kogi state government banned female teachers from wearing trousers during school hours

Random Google image
Female teachers in Kogi states have been banned from wearing trousers in schools and warned that anyone who violates the law will face disciplinary action. This new order was made after some teachers violated the professional code of dressing. The Kogi state Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Grace Elebiyo has asserted that Kogi State Ministry of Education would no longer tolerate indecent dressing to schools. #isokay#

I wonder if this so-called new order would change anything. Wearing trousers is not indecent. If you ask me, I think it's better teachers wore trousers to schools than skirts unless of course its a very long skirt and I mean skirt as long as touching their ankle. I remember back when I was in primary school, one my class teachers used to sit down on her desk which was facing us the students with her legs wide open and we could see and tell the colour of her underwear. That's because she was wearing a skirt but if it was trousers we wouldn't know or see anything. I also a guy in a different school who told a similar story. That's why I think trousers shouldn't be completely banned especially if it's a mixed (boys/girls) school. Not in these day and age where students know and do much more than we can imagine. #Just my views#  I would like to know what you think? Do you support the ban?

Thank God this buried baby was found alive!

Images from Nairaland
The baby was said to have been dug out alive after being buried shortly after birth. I'm not sure if the baby is a girl or boy but I'm simply going to refer to her as 'she'.

Isn't it amazing that she was found still breathing? That means God was watching over her. I shed tears looking at those pictures. I wonder how anyone can  try to hurt any baby. Babies are adorable and shouldn't be hurt in anyway whatsoever. I am not sure why the above baby was buried but she simply doesn't deserve it irrespective of the circumstance. Some women think dumping of babies is the best way out. NO! That is wickedness. It is better to abstain. If abstinence is not an option for you, then use preventive measures. If you find sex a pleasure and can't abstain until you are fully ready for it,then you should also be ready to face the consequences. Please think twice before leaving a baby in the dump or burying them alive. Think about your future. Think about possible repercussions. Even if no one saw you doing the evil deed, God is watching you and the baby is aware too. I know sometimes life can be very tough but there are motherless babies homes and similar organisation that you could have given the baby to. May God have mercy on your soul.

Is it right to take over your late brother's wife?

Random Google image

As it is a tradition in some part of the world for women to be remarried to their brothers-in-law after the death of their husbands. So I ask you, is this practice right? I believe a woman should be allowed to move on after the death of her husband whether she want to remain a widow or marry again. If she willingly  decide to marry her brother-in-law (Although I feel this is wrong), then that’s her choice. She shouldn't be forced into marrying her brother-in-law. Most so-called brothers-in-law happily take in their late brother’s wife under the false pretence that they are stepping into their late brother’s shoes and continuing from where he stopped. Please I want your views on this issue. Do you think it is right to take over your late brother’s wife after his death?

Men treated like animals for being gay

Image from Naijapals
The three men in the picture above were on Monday, 14th January arrested and paraded unclad in Imo state, Nigeria. Their offence? They were said to have been caught having gay sex and for that reason, they were beaten up, stripped, tied together with a rope as though they were animals and made to walk naked around the community.

Now as much as I detest homosexuality, I don't and will never support these kind of inhumane treatment. It is sickening. Nobody should treat another human like that. Being gay is not natural and I can never understand why people indulge in it but jungle justice is not the answer. That's taking the law into your hands and that itself is an offence.  Punish them some other way.

Bishop consecrates male church members by lying flat on them (Watch the video)

Hmmm 'Men of God' are devising their own different individual ways of serving God and interpreting the Bible. I stumbled on the video below of a Bishop by name Wayne T. Jackson of Greater Faith International Ministries performing what seems like a death ritual on two grown men and I'm not quite sure what to make of it. Maybe it's the Bishop's own way of interpreting the verse in the Bible which talks about 'being dead to sin'.

The video shows Bishop Wayne T. Jackson saying  "you got to be buried, you got to die" to two men standing in front of him before asking both men to knee down. He then asks them to lie on the floor face down, covers them with white and red cloths as though they were dead. The Bishop then lies on them one at a time for a while, stands up, walks around them several times before asking his men to help them back up on their feet. Please watch the video below and share your thoughts on it.

See what an $80,000 Barbie doll looks like

Random Google image
Beyonce and JayZ's baby Blue Ivy turned one last week and as you would expect, the highest paid celebrity couple in the world splashed out $$$s like no man's business. Beyonce and JayZ spent about $200,000 for Blue Ivy's birthday party. Apart from other miscellaneous expenses, The Sun reported that Blue Ivy got a customized diamond encrusted Barbie doll worth $80,000 as a birthday gift and her cake was worth about $2,400.
The doll (Image from Google)
That must be the most expensive 1st birthday ever! But come to think of it, the girl is only one and way too young to understand. As per the gift, I don't really get it. Remove the diamonds and it's no different from the usual Barbie doll.  I know these guys are rich and they've worked really hard to earn it but I just feel they are overdoing it. They spent £1million on her nursery and £370,000 on a gold crib before they had her. They spent much more thereafter such as buy her a designer shoe worth $800 (I'm sure that shoe doesn't fit her anymore now). But do I blame them? They have the money and if there's anyone or anything to spend it on, it must be their baby. I'll probably do the same or even more for my baby if I was in their shoes. The only thing is they better be donating to charities too and helping people in need. Blue Ivy deserve the best and she's getting it all. She must be the most pampered baby in the world. I really envy her

Would you accept man with full face tattoo as your president?

Presidential candidate Vladimir Franz. (AP Photo/Petr David Josek)
Ein taetowierter Professor will die Tschechen aufwecken
Vladimir Franz (Photos from Google)
53years old Vladimir Franz pictured above is a presidential candidate in Czech Republic. Vladimir a composer and professor of performing arts is tattooed head to toe. According to reports, his tattoo doesn't seem to bother the Czechs and he seems to appeal more to young voters. He is presently 3rd in the polls in the Czech Republic presidential election.

I know having tattoo doesn't make him any less human and I believe he has every right as much as the next person to qualify as a presidential candidate. Only thing is, his face is fully covered in tattoo and don't forget if he wins the election, he does not only become the president, he also becomes the Representative of that country. So would you be proud enough to 'OK' him as your president or do you think the tattoo is way too much?

Amazing once in a life time picture

Taken from Google
I feel this is really amazing once in a lifetime picture. It doesn't happen all the time.  baby from the womb reaches out for the surgeon's hand during  a C-section. The baby isn't out yet but she just stretch her tiny little finger out of her mother's womb and held the doctor's finger. That is just really awesome. I feel it's the baby's way of saying thank you to the doctor and I can tell for sure it connotes something very good. Couldn't believe I was so close to tears watching the report. I do have a something for babies and I feel blessed to have seen this image. It's just so adorable. You can watch the video report below
