"Sack Sanusi now"- NLC responds

alt

Recently, the CBN governor Mallam Sanusi Lamido in a statement advised that the federal government sack 50% of his labour force to save the nation's economy. If you missed the story, find it HERE. The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) have responded to that statement and I am 100% in support of NLC.

In a statement signed by its President, Abdulwahed Omar, NLC said: “It is obvious Sanusi was never qualified for the office of CBN Governor , and he must be asked to leave the office as he has shown more than enough incompetence and contempt for the Nigerian people.”

A lot others have been showing disapproval over Mallam Sanusi's statement which I completely understand  and support. I think Mallam Sanusi is to too comfortable in his office. He must be a very unsympathectic person to have made that statement. I absolutely in support of NLC. If you want the story, read it HERE

What would you do if you happen to be in this situation?

It's a very very scary  situation to be in but thank God it's only a prank. I LOL while I was watching it because it's a very funny video although for the victims, it must have been pretty scary for them. I would probably have freaked out if I was one of the people in that lift. I just simply can't imagine it. A ghost ke? How come  lol...but anyway if that was you in the lift with a 'ghost', How would you have reacted?

When all seems to go wrong
And nothing seems to be right
When all the right you do Seems to be wrong
When you have tried and done all you could
And your best seems not to be enough
When the joy in your heart seems to be fading
And the tears in your eyes keeps rushing down your cheeks
When your loved ones seems to be far away
And no helps seems to be coming your way
When all hope seems lost
And all dreams seems shattered
There’s one who sees it all
And know all that you’re going through
One who cares and can help put right the wrongs
One who will never let go of you and will always be around
One who will brighten your hope and make all dreams come alive

clothes with built-in fan - What's your view?

              Japanese Air Conditioned Clothing

Japanese company, Kuchofuku Co. Ltd, has designed a line of air conditioned clothing with built-in fans. The president of the company said the idea came about when he thought to himself "...that we don’t need to cool the entire room, just as long as people in it feel cool.” Businessmen who have no choice but to wear long-sleeved shirts in their hot workplaces have really shown interest in the air conditioned clothing. The least expensive piece of air conditioned clothing costs 11,000 yen (an equivalent of US $130), but the lithium-ion battery-powered jacket can provide sufficient cooling for up to 11 hours on a single charge, consuming far less power than that used by a normal air conditioner.

So there you have it. clothes with built-in fan. I think this is a great invention and would be very useful in countries such as Nigeria. What's your view on this? Do you like the product and would you wear it? Please share your comments below.

Actor John Dumelo & mum

I saw this picture of handsome actor, John Dumelo and his mother and just couldn't resist posting it here. I love it when kids have a close relationship with their parents. Judging from this picture, I think there is a very close knit between the actor and his beautiful mother.  I also think he's his mum's replica and now I see where he got his charms from.

"You have to sack half of Civil servants to save the economy of the country"- CBN Gov., Mallam Sanusi Lamido- Do you agree?

CBN Governor, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi

Of all the possible solutions there can be to save a country's economy from collapsing, firing workers is the number one option for CBN governor, Mallam Sanusi Lamido.

According to a report in Nigerian Tribune, governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, has asked the Federal Government to downsize the labour force if it must achieve anything meaningful as far as economic resuscitation is concerned in the country.

Mallam Sanusi made the plea during his presentation at the second Annual Capital Market Committee retreat that was held on Tuesday, in Warri, Delta State. In his statement, he said  “At the moment, 70 per cent of Federal Government’s revenue goes for payment of salaries and entitlement of civil servants, leaving 30 per cent for development of 167 million Nigerians. That means that for every naira government earns, 70 kobo is consumed by civil servants...You have to fire half of the civil service because the revenue government has is supposed to be for 167 million Nigerians. Any society where government spends 70 per cent of its revenue on its civil service has a problem. It is unsustainable”.

Seems to me that Mallam Sanusi have forgotten that Nigeria  is a country where unemployment is already a big issue and constantly on the increase. For me, proffering possible solutions to the lack of employments should be prioritized and that will consequently lead to economic boost and reduction of crimes. I suggest Mallam Sanusi should lead by example by first giving himself the sack.

What's your take on this? Do you agree or disagree with Mallam sanusi's statement?

Can you name your baby after a social networking site such as Facebook and Twitter?

From Yahoo!

I thought choosing a name for our newborn should be something carefully thought out as names can have big impacts in people's lives but these days, it seems people just choose a name for their babies without  considering the impact it might have on the baby or how socially acceptable such names are. I also thought 'meanings' should be a major factor in choosing a name for a baby.

Naming babies after social networking sites seem to becoming a trend these days. In the news today, a Twitter loving parents named their beautiful baby daughter the 'Hashtag'. The Jamesons family made the announcement via Facebook with a picture of the adorable baby.

Last year, an Egyptian family with crazy love for Facebook named their baby 'Like'. I also read of  another  man from Egypt, Al-ahram Ibrahim who was very happy with the social networking site Facebook that he named his daughter 'Facebook'. Lol...

Maybe the next couple will call their baby 'Instagram' lol...but seriously what happened if the there's no more Facebook or Twitter? I'm curious to know how these parents would explain the meanings of these names to their children when they are a bit older but would you consider naming your baby after a social networking site?

Does age really matter?

Hon. Rotimi Makinde & Oyebanke

I read in the news today that popular Yoruba actor and politician, Hon. Rotimi Makinde is planning to marry a 20years old super model, Oyebanke Oyelami. According to the story, Hon. Rotimi Makinde has defended his decision to take Miss Oyebanke, a final year student of political science in Obafemi Awolowo University and the reigning beauty queen of Osun state but the relationship seem to be generating a lot of controversies.

There's nothing wrong in two people getting married as long as they are both consenting adults but what seem to be causing controversies is the age gap between the couple. Hon. Rotimi Makinde is 40years old. That's double the age of the lady.

My question now is does age really matter? I mean the two are adults who seem to be in love with each other so what's the fuss about? Or do you think money and power  is the major influence here? Would you marry someone that young or that old as the case maybe?  Please leave your 'views' below.

A true life story: My husband dumped me at our wedding reception

Random Google image
The story you are about to read is a true life story. Please read very carefully. You might learn one or two  lessons from it.

Like every single lady, I have always looked forward to the wedding day of my dream   but what happened at my wedding reception shocked everyone.

I was in my second year at the university when I met KP. It was at a friend’s engagement party. KP was my type of man - tall, muscular and very handsome. We had arranged a dinner together at my place a few weeks after we met. While we were at the table, KP told me how he felt about me and I couldn’t hide my feelings either.  We cuddled up in the sofa afterwards getting to know each other better. He had just graduated from the university after studying chemical engineering and he is the only son in a family of four.  KP called me every day after that evening and our feelings became stronger each day.

A few months into our relationship, I was graduating from university. KP organized a party for me. We had most of our friends and family around. It was a fulfilling day. Later that same day KP went down on his knee and proposed to me. I could remember how ecstatic I was that night I couldn’t even talk. I just took the ring off him and put it on my finger. It was a dream come true. At 24 years old, everything was happening fast for me. I couldn’t be happier.
We started making necessary arrangements for our wedding and it was all going smoothly until KP’s mum visited me.  About four weeks before the wedding, I decided to invite her to my flat. It was the biggest mistake I’ve ever made in my life! She picked up on everything I did. She didn’t like my cooking either. Most annoyingly was when she complained about my wedding dress. She said it was too revealing. She even said that I was spending excessively. I felt terrible. I couldn’t tell KP about it because I wasn’t sure how he would react. Instead, I called Abi my friend and told her all that had happened. What I didn’t know was that Abi who also happened to be KP’s cousin has a very close relationship with KP’s mum.
Finally came the wedding day. I felt like a princess walking into the church during the procession in my father’s arm while the members of the congregation were standing. After taking the vows, the officiating minister announced to the church, “I present to you Mr and Mrs Ade”. It was the best day of my life but things took a very bad turn when we got to the reception. KP called me aside. I observed that he didn’t look happy but I couldn’t have been prepared for what he was about to say. He took off his ring and said affirmatively, “I’m done. I don’t want to continue with this wedding. I don’t think I want to spend the rest of life with you anymore”. I remained calm but sceptical. I didn’t know whether to take him seriously or not.  Then he started to walk away. “KP…KP…” I called out running after him but he wouldn’t stop. Instead he went straight for his car and drove off
As I made my way back into the hall, my maid of honour tried reassuring me as I cried. What just happened? I thought it was just my imagination but it wasn’t as I also later found out that KP, his mum, Abi and most of his family members and friends had left the reception hall. It was supposed to be my happiest day but it turned out to be the worst day of my life. How do I explain to the unsuspecting guests that the man I just got married to a few minutes ago just dumped me? I couldn’t face it so I pleaded with my mum to explain the situation to them.

I cried all night trying to figure out what I did wrong. Could KP be seeing someone else or perhaps his mother had persuaded him to leave me. She never liked me anyway! I wished I had answers but none was forthcoming. I rang KP’s phone over and over again but he didn’t pick. Abi didn’t answer my call either. Could they have connived together  to ruin my most special day?
Days turned into weeks and weeks into months yet no news from either KP, his mum or Abi. I was still trying hard to move on with my life when I got a surprise phone call from Abi.  She told me she was sorry and admitted she was behind the breakup between me and KP. Before the wedding day, Abi had told KP and his mum so many awful things about me that weren’t true. I’m not sure why she did what she did but I guess it was borne out of envy. I have cut off all contacts with her and trying to move on and although I am still single, I’m not searching.
Hmm...what would you do if you are the lady in this  story? Do you think KP was right to have ended the marriage just few hours into it? Please leave your comments below.

"I shaved my hair to honour cancer patients". - Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar

Halima Abubakar
You must have noticed that Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar recently shaved off all the hair on her head. I initially thought she did it for a movie role but I was wrong. It was something better than that. According to the actress, she shaved her hair to support the call against cancer and to honour the victims of cancer as she finds it really shocking that people can go through such traumatic experience.

Aww...what a way to honour others...and my 'views' on her shaved hair, I think it really suits her. She looks fab or don't you think so?

Now that's worth applauding!

                        Bishop Oyedepo                                         Prophet TB Joshua

Just yesterday, in one of my post, “The present state of the church today”, I mentioned how church leaders spend lavishly and live large at the expense of church members and how they could do more for the society. Well today I’m happy to share what I found in the news with you.

According to reports, Bishop David Oyedepo, The founder of Living Faith Church International popularly called Winners Chapel, has donated N40 million for the purchase of science equipment for four community schools in Omu-Aran, Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State. The benefiting schools include Omu-Aran High School, Ofe-Aram Commercial College,  Ogbo Grammar School and Aperan Comprehensive College. The bishop who himself is an indigene of Omu Aran   donated the money for the rehabilitation of Science Laboratories in the community.

Another Prophet TB Joshua of The Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) who is already well known for his philanthropic work also gave out £100,000 (that’s about N26million) to Yinka oduwole, a Nigerian student to study for PhD in the University of Oxford. Forbes estimated that Prophet Joshua has spent up to $20m in charitable activities alone in the last three years. Thousands of less privileged students are currently studying in universities across Nigeria and around the world courtesy of his scholarship program.

Now this is what I’m talking about (#Smiles) and I think leaders who do these kind of things should be applauded. I’m sure a lot others are doing one or two things to contribute to the society too that have not been heard. I am also sure a lot of other church leaders can learn for these and be pushed into doing more for their communities.

What's your 'view'?

A fake hymen to fool your man into believing you are a virgin

So any lady can now fool a man into believing she is a virgin when she’s not. Amazing! Isn’t it? Why would you want to do that? If you are not a virgin, then you are not a virgin, init? Why would I want to buy a fake Hymen? I’m still trying to get my head around this ridiculous product. Whoever came up with it is as stupid as the product itself. The product’s description of how it works is just as annoying. With this kind of product in the market, how would a man differentiate between the real and the fake? How would a man know if he just slept with a real virgin or a fake one? Ok wait... I’m guessing you are probably saying to yourself as you are reading this that there are no more virgins left out there anyway apart from the new born babies.  If this is your view, I’m sorry to say that I don’t buy it because I am of the opinion that there are still some decent girls left out there who would not compromise or trade their decency for anything whatsoever. It has now almost become an abomination in the society for a lady to be married a virgin. Someone once said to me, "If a lady is a virgin at 25years of age , then that lady is cursed". Helloooooooo??? I also read somewhere on the web "...If your woman is over 25 and went to the University of Lagos, she's probably not a virgin...". Why do people generalize and judge others based on unfounded truth?

The present state of the church today

Random image from Google
Gone were those days when men of God used to preach against living flamboyant lifestyles. They are now the ones living the life. I remember when I was growing up, hardly will you find a pastor driving a car let alone flying a jet. These days, men of God own everything even some of the things they preach against.  Owning a jet is fast becoming a trend among pastors. Acquiring multimillion properties is also gaining grounds among these pastors.  There might be nothing wrong with these things as they might just be God’s call or blessings as some of these things are needed to expand God’s message and establish the church.

However, how you administer them is altogether a different issue. Although I have a high respect for men of God, I still have my reservation about some of them who tend to be living a large life at the expense of their members. I have always wondered why a church leader would invest so much money on living on the large side of life, buying properties for himself, cars, jets and wearing designer clothing when some of the church members are struggling to have a three square meal a day. A church is often regarded as charity organisation, a place for worshiping and acknowledging the Almighty. A place for encouraging others base on the word of God, a place for sharing and helping one another, a place in which the main aim of the people is spending eternity in Heaven (Acts 2 verses 44 – 47)

Please don’t get me wrong. It is absolutely OK for a God’s representative (i.e pastors, Reverends, Bishops, Evangelists, Prophets etc) to look their best but I feel they need to do more than just preaching the word to the congregation. They need to act on the word. They need to go out and do more for the society. They need to invest more on spreading the word of God and wining souls for God rather than wearing blings or owning about five private jets. One jet is enough or at most two. after all, you can't be in two jets at the same time. Recently during the second Save Nigeria Group public lecture in Lagos, Pastor of Latter Rain Assembly, Tunde Bakare said in a statement “All General overseers and religious leaders must go to prison, so they can feel the Nigerian situation... maybe if we come out we will change and put the interest of our people first. Preaching greed is sin, we have the confidence of millions of people and continue to fail them, that must change.'’( quote HERE)  I completely understand what he meant by this statement. Some church leaders need to experience life as a common man, just maybe then would they be able to cut down on their lavish expenses and set their priorities right.

Some of these churches have higher institutions of learning and they charge exuberantly. I personally haven’t been to any of these private universities but I guess they have all the necessary technology and probably conducive environment for learning but come to think of it, how many people can afford to pay? I assure you only the rich people can afford to go to such universities. Such institutions are not meant for the poor or an average person. Most students struggle to pay through their learning years at the university.  I am also very certain that there are some people among the church congregation who cannot even afford to send their children to school due to lack of finance but they give their offerings and pay tithe on a regular basis. It is from these regular givings and donations from people and organisations that churches get their finances from and this is the major reason why some churches have been able to build universities and set up other businesses but the question remains, is the church of God doing enough to assist the less privilege both within and outside of the church?

I have learnt from personal experience that often times than we know an average member always feel down and sometimes depressed and unworthy to be part of a congregation because of the way the people in that particular setting are dressed or because of their personal possessions. Even when we try to blend in and feel like “all is well”, we still find ourselves holding back from joining any department within that church due to excessive financial demands from that department or the church itself as a whole.

having said all the above, I know there some true leaders, true churches and true worshipers out there but we can not argue that the church is no longer what it used to be. It's a completely different ball game now. Materialism is fast taking over our churches and spiritualism is swept under the carpet. We yearn to look our best, own the best houses, wear the best designer clothes, shoes and drive the best cars. It is all becoming a competition even among the congregation and we wrongly use the phrase “God looks at the inward not the outward” to justify and defend ourselves. I know I might be stepping on some people’s toes but it’s the truth and “truth” they say hurts but it must be told.

We talk of politicians embezzling the nation’s money but what do we say about some of these pastors? The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Most Rev Matthew Kukah, “The acquisition of private jets by Christian leaders diminishes the moral voice of the church in the fight against corruption”. (quote HERE) Do I agree with him? To some extent, yes.  I would like to state at this point that I am absolutely not judging or condemning anyone. Who am I to do that? But in a nutshell,  I’m simply saying that church leaders need to slow down a bit. The church is not for competition. The true teachings of Christ need to be reintroduced. Brotherly love need to be rekindled. We need to refocus and redefine what the church is and only then, would we know to put first things first.

Thanks for reading. These are just my “views”. Please share yours in the comment box or email at views247@gmail.com. Don’t be obliged to agree. You can disagree and correct me if need be.
